Organize WordPress content by folder

Folders Pro is the paid edition of Folders. It sorts media files, pages, posts, and custom posts into virtual folder trees. These folders do not create physical directories on the server or in WordPress, and assigning an entry to a folder leaves its URL unchanged. Group images, video, audio, documents, and site content by project, topic, category, or date. Customize folder icons and mark important folders for easier navigation.

Choose where content goes

Move entries by dragging them into a folder or selecting a destination from the folder menu. Choose a folder when adding content, upload files directly to a selected media library folder, or create a media folder during an upload. Set default folders for the media library, pages, posts, and custom posts, with an option to display unassigned items when an area opens.

Enable folder support for custom post types from other plugins. Dynamic Folders can filter posts, pages, custom posts, and media by details such as author, date, file size, and file type. The product also includes a WooCommerce integration for managing dynamic folders.

Replace files and review media details

Media replacement updates references in the database so the replacement appears where the original file was used. Supported replacement processes include PDF, SVG, DOCX, XLSX, and other file types. Compare the old and new files, including size and dimensions. Choose to replace the file alone or use the new filename and update relevant links, and select date options for the replacement. Media files can also be renamed automatically using their WordPress editor title. Hover over a library item to view details such as title, size, type, date, and dimensions.

Manage folders, uploads, and access

Lock folders to keep them pinned and prevent dragging or deletion; lock or unlock all folders together. Duplicate folders, sort them by creation date, and use keyboard shortcuts to create, rename, duplicate, and reorder folders. A sticky media library toolbar keeps folder navigation available while organizing files. Pro also works with SVG uploads, searching for unused media, and moving files to the trash.

Import folder structures from FileBird, Enhanced Media Library, Wicked Folders, Real Media Library, WP Media Folder, HappyFiles, and Mediamatic, or export the Folders structure. Upload a folder hierarchy from your computer to recreate it in the media library. Download a media library folder as a ZIP file or extract a ZIP into the library while preserving its folder structure.

When user restrictions are enabled, customers can access only their own folders and media, while admin-type users can view all folders. The restriction can also apply to Dynamic Folders.

Install and activate Folders Pro in WordPress, then create or import a folder structure. Arrange media, pages, posts, and custom posts using the folder interface. Choose default folders, configure access restrictions, and select the upload and replacement options that fit your process.
