Set rules for the frontend toolbar

Hide Admin Bar Based on User Roles Pro lets site owners choose who sees the WordPress admin bar on frontend pages. Role and capability rules provide the starting point; page, device, time, and account options let you narrow visibility for membership sites, WooCommerce stores, learning platforms, client sites, communities, and directories.

Choose where and when it appears

  • Page targeting: Show or hide the toolbar on selected URLs, post types, or page templates.
  • Device rules: Hide it on mobile or tablet while keeping it visible on desktop.
  • Individual overrides: Force the toolbar to display or hide for a specific account when general role or capability rules need an exception.
  • Scheduled visibility: Hide the toolbar during selected hours.
  • Inactivity auto-hide: Slide the toolbar away after a configurable period without activity.

Redirects and settings

When users try to access the backend, redirect them to the homepage or a custom URL. Import or export the plugin configuration to back it up or move it between sites.

Compatibility and scope

The extension works with themes and add-ons that register WordPress roles, including WooCommerce customer roles, membership and learning management add-ons, and custom roles. It is also described as compatible with Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, and WordPress Multisite.

These visibility rules control the toolbar on frontend pages. WordPress continues to show it inside wp-admin; the redirect option can send users away from the backend.

Set up visibility rules

  1. Install the plugin from the WordPress dashboard and activate it.
  2. Open the plugin settings and choose the roles or capabilities for the basic visibility rules.
  3. Add page, device, user, time, inactivity, redirect, or imported settings as needed.
