How WordPress content reaches social networks

WordPress to Buffer Pro sends configured posts, pages, and custom post types to Buffer when they are published or updated. The extension determines which content to send and how to build each message. Buffer handles the connected social profiles and publishes queued posts according to its schedule. A Buffer account is required.

Buffer connections include Facebook Pages, X/Twitter, LinkedIn Pages and profiles, Threads, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, Bluesky, and TikTok. Pro adds direct posting to Instagram Business Profiles, including Feed and Stories, and Pinterest Boards. You can connect multiple Buffer accounts to one WordPress site for separate brands, teams, or workflows.

Set message content and publishing rules

Templates can draw from WordPress post titles, excerpts, content, permalinks, publication dates, tags, and categories. Tags and categories can be formatted as hashtags; excerpts and content can have character or word limits. Pro works with separate status templates for each social network and post type. It can also use custom field values in messages.

Choose which post types to share, then use conditional publishing to choose content by author, category, tags, or custom field values. Duplicate prevention helps avoid sending the same content twice.

Choose queue placement and timing

For a post, choose immediate publishing, placement at the start or end of the Buffer queue, or a specific scheduled time. Buffer spaces queued posts according to its schedule. Pro can reshare evergreen content at scheduled intervals, or you can manually select multiple posts for bulk publishing.

Scheduled WordPress posts are sent to Buffer when they publish. For background sending, Pro also supports WP-Cron.

Use event and shop details in posts

• Event calendar integrations use event dates to schedule social posts from The Events Calendar, Event Manager, and Modern Events Calendar.
• WooCommerce data, including product prices and SKUs, can be added to social messages.
• SEO titles, descriptions, and metadata can be drawn from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All-In-One SEO Pack, and SEOPress.
• Multiple images can be selected from a featured image, Media Library, post content, or Advanced Custom Fields image fields.

Configure the publishing process

Install the add-on in WordPress, authorize a Buffer account, and link the social profiles managed by Buffer. Select the post types to share, set templates and publishing conditions, then choose how new or updated content should be scheduled. When content is published or updated, the configured rules send it to Buffer for processing.
