WordPress plugin

WP Accessibility Helper Pro for WordPress Site Accessibility

WP Accessibility Helper Pro provides an accessibility sidebar that visitors can use to adjust how website content is displayed, along with settings for site owners to review common accessibility details. Its tools cover text size, contrast, pictures, links, keyboard access, and page structure. The plugin can support accessibility work, but it does not guarantee a fully accessible result at level A, AA, or AAA. Results also depend on the quality of the website code; consult an accessibility expert for a full assessment.

Reading and show adjustments

Font resizing is available through REM units, zoom, or a script. Use REM resizing only when the theme is built with REM units. Zoom can help on sites with mixed or unclear CSS sizing. The script option calculates font sizes for headings h1 through h6 and links. A reset button is available with this method.

  • Contrast modes with custom colors and Lights Off mode
  • Greyscale images, inverted colors and images, and Dark and Light Themes controls
  • A readable font switch to Arial and web-safe font family settings
  • Options to underline or highlight links, remove CSS animations, and hide the sidebar on mobile devices

Scanning and content tools

The DOM Scanner checks pages and posts for accessibility-related details, including picture alt information, link roles, and link titles. The attachments control center uses AJAX functions to manage images, attachment titles, and alt tags in one place.

Additional settings can add role="link" to anchor elements, remove title attributes from links, and manage HTML5 landmarks. These controls help site owners review and adjust common details in their content and page structure.

Sidebar and keyboard controls

Visitors can open the accessibility sidebar with Alt+Z and close it with Alt+X. Site owners can position it on the left or right, reorder its widgets with drag and drop, and enable skip links, including a skip link inside the sidebar. A cookie setting saves a visitor’s contrast selection; another control clears that selection from cookies.

Check the theme and settings

If the accessibility icon is not visible, check that the WordPress theme includes wp_head(), wp_footer(), and body_class(). REM-based resizing also depends on the theme using REM units.

Install and activate the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen, then configure it from the Accessibility screen. Review the sidebar, scanner, content tools, and display settings on representative pages. Check how the font, contrast, keyboard, link, image, and landmark adjustments work with your theme.
