How protection is applied
The extension checks comments, form submissions, registrations, logins, subscriptions, bookings, surveys, polls and search forms. For external forms that send data to third-party services such as MailChimp, enable the external-form protection option in the plugin settings.
Supported integrations include Contact Form 7, WPForms, Elementor Forms, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Forminator, Ninja Forms and Formidable Forms. Other listed integrations cover comment tools such as Jetpack comments, bbPress and Asgaros Forum, along with booking, chat and commerce tools. WooCommerce protection filters spam registrations, reviews and fake orders; the supplied compatibility information lists WooCommerce 2.1 and later.
Comment handling and spam review
Choose how the plugin handles detected spam comments: move them to the Spam folder or Trash, or block them silently. Settings can also delete spam comments automatically. Stop-word comments can be kept pending for review, while a separate option can automatically approve legitimate comments.
The plugin can scan existing comments and visitors for spam. Its Anti-Spam Log entries checked requests so you can review what was accepted or blocked, and dashboard analytics display spam and legitimate request statistics.
Email checks and filtering controls
Real-time email validation checks whether an address appears real or fake. Settings can block disposable and temporary addresses, while additional filters can apply language, country, network and stop-word rules. Private IP and email lists can also block specified senders.
Other controls include a honeypot field for supported forms and contact-data encoding, which makes published email addresses and phone numbers harder for bots to collect. The Real Person Badge can identify legitimate commenters and automatically approve their non-spam comments.
Spam FireWall and compatibility
Spam FireWall provides an earlier check: it can block known active spam bots before they load website pages. Cloud Anti-Spam then checks other requests when visitors submit comments, registrations or forms. The Firewall runs locally on the server; it does not route all site traffic through a cloud proxy.
CleanTalk is described as compatible with WordPress cache extensions, Cloudflare and content delivery networks. It does not check Cloudflare network addresses against its blacklist database, and uses other anti-spam tests for those requests.
Setup and service terms
Install and activate the CleanTalk anti-spam plugin in WordPress, connect it to the Cloud Anti-Spam service, then configure the available protection settings. The supplied information describes installation as taking less than 30 seconds, with protection starting after setup.
The cloud service includes a free trial, followed by a stated price of $12 per year per site.
