When customers need a different currency
Place a currency bar or price switcher in the store, or add a switcher with a shortcode. CURCY can detect a customer’s country from their IP address and display the currency configured for that country. Choose WooCommerce geolocation or an external service; the external option uses IP2Location and requires an API key. Stores can also display the default price with an approximate price in the customer’s native currency.
For stores setting rates and regional prices
Administrators can enter exchange rates manually or schedule updates at intervals from 30 minutes to one month. Rate sources include VillaTheme, Google Finance, and Yahoo Finance. Add permanent exchange fees, select custom currency symbols such as USD, US$, or $, conceal currencies from the storefront, and receive an email when rates update.
Set fixed product prices in other currencies when a specific regional price is needed. A fixed price replaces the amount calculated from the exchange rate. Bulk fixed prices can be imported from a CSV file. Price-format rules can adjust displayed amounts, for example from $9.87 to $9.99.
At checkout and on multilingual stores
Payment methods can be assigned to currencies, with other methods hidden at checkout. Stores can require a specific currency after a customer selects “Place order.” The selected currency can be stored in a session instead of a cookie, and switching currencies with JavaScript avoids adding a currency tag to the URL. A multiple-currency display option can show relevant values together when product and checkout prices use different currencies.
For multilingual stores, administrators can choose currencies for languages supported through WPML and Polylang. Currency can also be configured to follow the customer’s billing or shipping country.
Before adding currency display
Configure currencies, rate settings, customer detection, and display controls, then place a bar, switcher, or shortcode where customers can choose a currency. Review product pages, the cart, and checkout to confirm that prices and available payment methods follow the selected rules. The Conditional Tags setting accepts allowlisted WordPress and WooCommerce is_*() tags only; use valid tags from trusted developers.
Each purchase includes either 6 or 12 months of premium support from VillaTheme, depending on the purchase.
