Apply and position watermarks
An image can have one image watermark and one text watermark. Use either type on its own or combine them. Image watermark files can be JPG, PNG, or GIF. PNG and GIF files retain transparency and alpha channels. Set opacity from 0 to 100% for JPG and GIF image watermarks and for text watermarks.
- Place image or text watermarks in one of nine positions, with horizontal and vertical offsets.
- Set text color, size, angle, and position. Text watermarks use TTF fonts.
Scale watermarks across image sizes
The add-on can process WordPress thumbnail, medium, large, and fullsize images, along with additional sizes registered by themes or plugins. Image watermark scaling has five modes: None, Cover, Contain, Fit to Width, and Fit to Height. Enable Scale down only to scale only when the source image is smaller than the watermark. The watermark ratio is preserved. Fit to Width and Fit to Height can use dimensions set as percentages of the image.
Use dynamic text
Text watermarks can include placeholders that generate details such as the uploader’s name or the image’s upload date. The watermark text is generated when applied.
Back up and restore originals
Easy Watermark can save image backups before applying a watermark. Restore an original from the attachment edit page using the Easy Watermark meta box, or use bulk actions on the Media page. Backups store only the fullsize image; thumbnails are regenerated during restoration. Backups use additional server space because images are stored twice.
Deactivation or removal does not restore images automatically. Restore originals before uninstalling. If the extension has already been removed, its backup files can be accessed manually in the WordPress directory.
Setup requirement
Install the plugin, configure the watermark type and its placement, size, opacity, scaling, and text options, then select automatic watermarking for uploads or apply watermarks manually to existing media. The server must have the GD library installed and enabled.
