The extension works with the classic WordPress editor and Gutenberg.
Link terms to definitions in context
Glossary by Codeat PRO organizes specialized language, product information, and recurring concepts into glossary or dictionary entries. It automatically links matching terms in posts and pages to their definitions, so readers can open a tooltip or visit the full term page. The extension works with the classic WordPress editor and Gutenberg.
Choose how terms match and appear
The PRO edition includes the free features and includes advanced tooltip styling, controls for tooltip behavior on mobile, and automatic footnotes. Case-sensitive matching can distinguish terms by capitalization. You can link only the first occurrence of the same term or any key term, and prevent a term from linking to itself on its description page.
PRO also delivers an alphabetically ordered term list and a customizable glossary index through a shortcode or block. Index blocks can be customized in Gutenberg, Elementor, Fusion Builder, Divi, Beaver Builder, and SiteOrigin. Custom fields for key terms include integration with Advanced Custom Fields, and advanced shortcodes can parse content used with Visual Composer or another page builder.
Organize and browse the glossary
Glossary tools support term categories, vertical archives, synonyms, and internal or external links, with an icon option for external links. Choose where capabilities execute, including selected pages, archives, taxonomies, or custom post types. Widgets include Glossary Search Bar, Latest Terms, and Glossary Categories. CSV imports and Schema.org DefinedTerm support are also included.
The plugin integrates with Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms, Elementor, Bricks Builder, Fixed TOC, Easy Table of Contents, YARPP, User Role Editor, WPML, and Polylang. Its ChatGPT integration can help generate term content and requires an OpenAI API key.
Use terms across various kinds of sites
A food site can link ingredients or kitchen utensils to definitions. An online shop can explain fishing equipment and suggest related products from store pages. A fan encyclopedia can organize terms as a reference, while an affiliate site can include affiliation URLs and descriptions in term tooltips.
Set up the glossary
Install the plugin on the WordPress site where you want to use the glossary, then create terms and definitions. Configure term linking, tooltip presentation, matching behavior, and the areas where features should run. Add an index with the PRO shortcode or block, and customize it in a supported visual editor if needed. The PRO edition includes dedicated support; documentation and a demo are also available.
