Choose a map and its areas
Select from more than 250 vector maps covering the world, continents, regions, countries, US states divided into counties, and county maps for Mexico and Canada. Some locations have alternative map versions divided into regions, departments, districts, or municipalities. Choose which areas to show and exclude specific regions. Available projections include Mercator, Miller, and NaturalEarth1.
Style locations and regional data
- Set colors for individual regions and markers, and use heatmaps (choropleth maps) to color regions according to data.
- Add markers with custom images, vector icons, or text labels. Cluster nearby markers or connect them with lines to show routes and relationships.
- Show HTML tooltips on hover, change region colors during hover, and add click actions that open a new window or display content outside the map or in a lightbox.
- Add legends to explain mapped colors and markers, and group regions into visual units.
Configure the view and data
Set the initial zoom and map center, then adjust the view with zoom controls and advanced zoom options. Overlay maps, such as a US states map on a world map, or populate maps automatically from existing categories or tags.
Add maps to WordPress pages
Install MapGeo Pro, select a vector map, choose the areas to show, and configure its display. Add the finished map to a page through your WordPress content process. Maps are embedded as SVG in HTML5 pages and are responsive, touch-enabled, and designed for modern browsers and devices.
The plugin uses the amCharts visualization library, and some documents load from its CDN. An amCharts account is not required. A Google Maps API key is not needed to display maps; adding one optionally enables geocoding in the administration area when entering marker locations.
During installation, you can optionally share non-sensitive WordPress installation data with Freemius. MapGeo Pro works without opting in and does not collect data from your visitors.
