PublishPress Future Pro for Scheduled WordPress Changes

PublishPress Future Pro schedules changes to WordPress content for a date you pick. Set an action while editing, apply dates to multiple posts through Quick Edit or Bulk Edit, or create an Action Workflow for a series of changes.

Set dates for the content types you use

Choose a date and action in the Future panel in the editing sidebar. The extension supports posts, pages, WooCommerce products, LearnDash courses, and custom post types. Enable the types you need under Future > Post Types.

You can set a default action for each post type. Turn on “Automatically create actions” if new content should receive that action automatically; a default by itself does not schedule changes for new content.

Choose what happens when the date arrives

A scheduled action can change a post to Draft or Private, move it to the Trash, delete it, or turn the “Stick to the top of the blog” option on or off. Category actions can replace all existing categories, add categories while keeping the current ones, or remove specified categories while keeping the rest. Pro can also move content to a custom status, including a status supplied by another add-on.

Sequence follow-up with Action Workflows

Action Workflows, available in Pro, combine multiple steps and schedules in one content process. For example, a workflow can email the website administrator when a post is updated, move a post to the Trash one week after publication, or move it to Draft and add a category 15 days after publication. A workflow can also email the author one year after publication to ask them to review the content.

Use metadata or imports to set actions

Pro’s Metadata Scheduling connects action options to metadata from Advanced Custom Fields or other plugins. A connected date field can supply the action date. Metadata can also specify whether an action is enabled, its type, the taxonomy name, and the taxonomy term IDs used by the action. For imported posts, an importer such as WP All Import can map its columns to these fields so the posts arrive with Future Actions set.

Show dates and keep a record

PublishPress Future can add an action date to the bottom of an article or show it where you place a shortcode. Shortcode formatting options let you personalize how the date appears. Email notifications can be configured in the plugin settings. Pro also logs each action with the post it affected, details of the change, and when it happened.

How scheduled actions execute

Scheduled changes are stored as Action Scheduler actions, and Action Scheduler usually processes its queue through WP-Cron. If a change does not happen, check that WP-Cron is running. Sites that intentionally disable WP-Cron can process the queue with Action Scheduler’s async runner or WP-CLI.

Get started

Install and activate the plugin in WordPress, enable the post types you use under Future > Post Types, then set an action date in the editing sidebar or create an Action Workflow. If you use metadata scheduling, connect the relevant fields to control the action date and other action settings.
