PublishPress Revisions Pro: Review and Schedule Updates

PublishPress Revisions Pro lets teams prepare changes to published WordPress content as revisions. Proposed edits wait in a Revision Queue while the current published version remains in place. Users can work in the familiar WordPress interface, including Gutenberg and the Classic Editor.

Submit and review revisions

Open a supported published post, page, product, or other post type and pick New Revision. Edit the copy in the applicable editor, then save or submit the proposed changes to the Revision Queue. Reviewers can edit, delete, or preview a revision, compare it with the current or a former version, and approve, reject, or schedule it.

To publish a change later, select a future date and schedule the revision. It will publish at the specified time.

Compare changes in context

Revisions can include changes to content, categories, tags, featured pictures, page parents, and other options. Comparisons use the familiar WordPress Compare Revisions interface. Revisions can also be previewed and moderated on the site’s front end. The toolbar is green for pending revisions and grey for scheduled revisions.

Roles and permissions

Contributors can submit revisions to their own published posts. Revisors can submit revisions to posts and pages published by others. Authors, Editors, and Administrators can approve revisions or schedule their own revisions. Advanced permissions are available through the separate PublishPress Permissions Pro add-on, with controls by role or visitor for specific posts, categories, or taxonomy terms.

Pro integrations and content types

Pro works with integrations with plugins and themes including Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Pods, WPML, The Events Calendar, WooCommerce, Elementor, Avada, Beaver Builder, Breakdance, Bricks, Divi, SeedProd, SiteOrigin Page Builder, and WPBakery. It also supports block extensions such as Essential Blocks, Kadence Blocks, Otter Blocks, PublishPress Blocks, Spectra, Stackable, and Ultimate Blocks, along with Yoast SEO and Rank Math SEO.

For WooCommerce products, create a revision from the Products screen and submit it to the main Revision Queue. Key WooCommerce fields are supported, and product revisions can be scheduled. If the store uses third-party WooCommerce extensions, test their compatibility with WordPress revisions and PublishPress Revisions Pro.

For Elementor content, edit a revision in the Elementor editor and submit or schedule it through the revision process. ACF field changes can be compared, and Yoast SEO data is retained through the approval process. WPML sites can maintain separate revisions for translated content. Beaver Builder and Divi content can be edited through their front-end editors by customers with the required permissions.

The Events Calendar integration requires using Gutenberg to create events. Revisions can be submitted and managed in the queue, but comparison is unavailable because The Events Calendar does not support that WordPress capability.

Email notifications

Administrators and Editors receive email notifications when a revision is submitted. Notifications can also be sent for revision approval and publication, and unwanted notifications can be disabled in Settings.
