Post alerts and campaigns
Custom notifications can go to all subscribers or a selected audience where appropriate. Send a message right away or schedule it for later. Settings can also use visitor roles such as Editor, Author, Contributor, and Subscriber, or set a maximum number of notifications within a defined time frame.
The Pro edition adds iOS notifications, unlimited notifications, and subscriber segmentation. Visitors can opt in to alerts for selected categories or authors and receive notifications based on those preferences.
Subscriber prompts and delivery
Control where the subscription popup appears, including selected pages, posts, categories, and tags. Customize its message and style, add custom CSS, or choose from four predefined designs. The final appearance can vary by device and browser.
On HTTPS websites, supported browsers include Chrome on desktop and Android, Safari on macOS, Microsoft Edge on desktop and Android, Opera on desktop and Android, and Firefox on desktop and Android. Push notifications work with or without a PWA setup.
Reports and integrations
Campaign and audience reports help you review activity. The campaigns list shows sent messages, status, and click statistics; the subscribers list includes active and expired subscribers. Add UTM parameters to notification links to help track clicks.
Integrations include Polylang, PeepSo, Gravity Forms, BuddyPress, BuddyBoss, and Fluent Community. Triggering notifications from other add-ons may require specific compatibility. On multisite installations, notifications can be sent across network websites from one place.
The global function pn_send_push_notification_filter can send notifications from elsewhere, and the [pn_campaigns] shortcode shows a campaign list on the frontend.
Setup
After activation, open Push Notification Options in the WordPress dashboard. Connect your API, then configure automatic delivery, subscription visibility, designs, targeting, and scheduling. Automatic alerts are sent for supported posts when the relevant settings are enabled.
