SuperPWA Premium for WordPress PWA Setup
SuperPWA Premium helps configure a WordPress site as a Progressive Web App. On supported mobile browsers, visitors can add the website to their device home screen and open it through an app-like interface.
App setup and offline access
SuperPWA Premium helps configure a WordPress site as a Progressive Web App. On supported mobile browsers, visitors can add the website to their device home screen and open it through an app-like interface.
The extension generates a web app manifest and adds it to the site head. Settings let you select the application icon, splash screen background color and show property. The plugin also supports maskable and monochrome icons, and WordPress installations in a sub-folder.
Pages visited by a visitor are stored locally with the CacheStorage API and can be read offline once cached. If the user opens a page that is not cached while offline, the configured offline page appears.
PRO options
The PRO version lists these additional capabilities:
- Call To Action prompts for visitors.
- An Android APK App Generator to make an APK from the Progressive Web App.
- Data Analytics capabilities.
- A pre-loader for the Progressive Web App.
- App Shortcuts.
- A QR Code Generator.
Requirements and setup
The WordPress site must use HTTPS, and the visitor’s browser must support web app manifests and service workers.
Install and activate the plugin from WordPress Admin > Plugins > Add New. Then open the SuperPWA settings, set the application icon and splash screen color, choose the display property and save. On a supported mobile device, open the site and install it using the Add to Home Screen prompt or browser menu. Cached pages can then be opened offline; uncached pages display the configured offline page.
On uninstall, the plugin removes the database entries and documents it makes.
