Manage internal and external links

WP Links PRO applies link settings to rendered content across posts, pages, comments, widgets, and other areas of a WordPress site. Choose whether links open in a new window or tab, set follow or nofollow behavior, and add noopener, noreferrer, ugc, or sponsored values to the rel attribute. You can also set link titles and CSS classes, and use FontAwesome or Dashicons to identify links visually.

Choose between default options and targeted rules

Set general behavior for internal and external links, then use Link Rules to handle selected groups differently. A template tag can apply extension settings to specific content. The data attribute data-wpel-link can specify whether a link is treated as external or internal, or set to exclude; setting its value to ignore skips that link entirely.

Review links and manage external clicks

The Pro Link Scanner checks links and reports whether they are broken or redirected, their target and rel attributes, and the page where each link appears. Scan a complete page or focus on posts, comments, or widgets. Exit Confirmation adds a confirmation step when visitors click external links.

Configure network behavior and developer hooks

Network settings support WPMU installations. Built-in actions and filters let developers adjust link handling for specific implementation needs, including how individual links are treated.

Setup and output behavior

Install and activate WP Links PRO in WordPress, then open its administration page. Configure behavior for internal and external links, including window or tab settings, rel values, icons, and other attributes. Add Link Rules or template tags for more specific handling, then save your settings and use the Link Scanner to review destinations, status, and attributes.

The add-on filters rendered output on the fly. It does not change the underlying content stored in the database, which remains as it was before filtering if the plugin is deactivated.
