Place Drive content in WordPress
Embedder For Google Drive lets authors select Drive items while editing WordPress posts and pages. Premium includes file browsing, folder embedding, and calendar support. Enterprise includes those functions with interactive folders, intranet attachments, and Team Drive support, also called Shared Drives.
Choose how files appear
Files can appear inline in Google’s read-only interactive viewer, link to editable files that open in the same or a new browser tab, or be offered as downloads where supported. Supported types include PDFs, Word documents, ZIP files, videos, pictures, and native Google documents such as spreadsheets, drawings, and forms. Native Google formats can be linked or embedded, but direct downloads are unavailable for them.
Premium browsing, folders, and calendars
Premium’s Drive browser has tabs for My Drive, Recent Files, Starred, and Shared With Me. Authors can view or search files while preparing WordPress content. Folder embeds display a list of files from a Drive folder, so authors can maintain the collection in Drive. Premium also lets authors select Google Calendars to embed on the website or provide as ICAL or XML download links. The edition includes support and updates for one year.
Folder lists can suit document libraries, resource pages, internal information areas, and public websites where users need access to a current collection of files.
Enterprise folders and intranet attachments
Enterprise includes the basic and Premium capabilities. On a WordPress intranet, each page or post can have Drive-backed file attachments, keeping document sharing connected to Drive. Its interactive embedded folders let customers preview files and browse into subfolders without leaving the website. Enterprise also works with Team Drives, now called Shared Drives.
Drive permissions and WordPress compatibility
Google Drive sharing settings determine whether visitors can view embedded files. For public access, documents generally need a setting such as Anyone with the link can view, or a higher level of access. The appropriate setting depends on the file and its intended audience. The add-on can be used on public websites and private intranets, including WordPress multisite networks.
