WordPress plugin
EqualWeb widget and PDF accessibility for WordPress
Connect the extension to the installation code in your EqualWeb account to load the accessibility widget on public pages. The plugin loads it after the page renders and uses the integrity hash from your code. Visitors can open the menu from the accessibility button.
Visitor accessibility widget
Connect the extension to the installation code in your EqualWeb account to load the accessibility widget on public pages. The plugin loads it after the page renders and uses the integrity hash from your code. Visitors can open the menu from the accessibility button.
Design the button in WordPress by choosing its side, vertical position, size, colors, icon or short text label, shape, and outline. A live preview and contrast readout help you review the styling. Set the menu language to follow the page language or pick an available widget language. You can also place your own button with the shortcode [equalweb_button text="Accessibility"]. Use “Check on your site” to confirm the widget appears on your pages, or hide it from logged-in administrators while you edit. With an API key saved, the widget tab can check for updates and apply them while keeping your button design.
Free PDF/UA checks
Scan PDFs against the PDF/UA standard with 80 automated checks. Each file gets a score from 0 to 100 and a detailed report covering tagging, reading order, alternate text, title and language, tables, headings, forms, and contrast. Reports can be shared online. Free checks require no EqualWeb account.
Before the first free check, the plugin registers your website automatically when an administrator opens a PDF tab. The site must be reachable over HTTPS, and its verification page must accept anonymous requests directly without a login, redirect, firewall block, or page cache. The plugin shows the registration status and includes a way to try again if registration fails.
Optional AI document remediation
To remediate documents, connect an EqualWeb account and API key in Settings, then add credits. Remediation accepts PDFs, including scans, and Word, PowerPoint, or Excel documents. Scanned documents are processed with OCR, and each result is a tagged PDF. The service adds image alternate text, rebuilds heading hierarchy and reading order, tags document components, and sets the language and title. It supports files up to 100 MB and 200 pages; the original structure, layout, and visual design are preserved.
For each document, save the accessible PDF as a new file, download it, or replace the original at the same URL. Replacing a file keeps a backup that you can restore with one click. Remediation uses credits, at about one credit per page, and is charged once per document.
Document library tools and standards
Search, filter by status, sort by score, and paginate through files. Bulk actions let you check or remediate multiple documents. The dashboard reports coverage, score distribution, and average improvement. Automatic classification groups PDFs by where they are used, and role-based permissions control who can view files, execute free checks, spend remediation credits, or replace files.
The document process addresses PDF/UA (ISO 14289), WCAG 2.2, Section 508, the ADA, and EN 301 549.
