Show content in a responsive lightbox
FooBox displays selected content in a modal overlay above the current page. Images scale for phones, and the controls adapt to portrait and landscape orientations. WordPress galleries, captioned images, and attachment images can open in a lightbox. FooBox Pro includes video, iframe, and hidden HTML targets, plus video-poster controls.
Set up targets with block controls
FooBox adds controls to core Button, Image, Gallery, and Group blocks in the WordPress editor. Image blocks can link to media files, show captions, use a style and theme, join a gallery group, set maximum dimensions, and pan across large images. Gallery blocks pass their style, theme, grouping, and FooBox Pro opening effects to their child Image blocks. Opening effects require FooBox Pro.
Button blocks can open images or automatically detected image URLs. With FooBox Pro, they can also open video, iframe, and hidden HTML targets. A Group block can hold hidden inline content for a FooBox Pro Button to open in a modal. These controls let you prepare content in the editor before upgrading without rebuilding it.
An opt-in compatibility setting lets FooBox take over Image and Gallery blocks that use WordPress’s own “Open in lightbox” option. The setting is off by default.
Check image links when a lightbox does not open
FooBox looks for images or thumbnails linked to the full-size image. If an older WordPress attachment image has no media-file link, enable Auto Link Existing Images to wrap unlinked attachment images on the frontend. Visitors can then open them in the lightbox without editing old content. For new images, set the link to the media file in the block editor.
Choose themes and viewing settings
FooBox Pro includes social sharing across 10+ networks, deeplinking, fullscreen viewing, and slideshow mode. Choose the Glass, Metro, or Flat theme. The Glass theme includes custom color pickers; additional options include five color schemes, 12 button icons, 11 loader icons, and 12 animation effects. 85+ options are available for customization.
Control when assets load
By default, FooBox includes its JavaScript and stylesheet assets on all pages because it cannot know in advance which pages contain media. You can exclude the assets by default and enable them on pages that need them, or keep the default setting and exclude assets from selected pages.
