PublishPress Authors Pro manages contributor assignments and author displays across WordPress content. Assign multiple people to a post, make profiles for guest authors, and pick where each person’s details appear.

When a post credits several people

WordPress normally gives each post one author. Assign multiple authors or coauthors from the editing screen when several people deserve credit. For contributors without a connected account, create a guest author under the Guest Author user role or without an account. Guest authors can have a full profile, avatar, and individual archive page, and can be selected and displayed like authors linked to WordPress visitors.

Choose where author boxes appear

An author box can display a person’s name, biography, avatar, description, and other profile details. Choose from five default layouts, customize one, or create a layout of your own. Place boxes beneath content, use them in place of the default author display, or add them to widgets and Gutenberg blocks. You can also insert them with shortcodes or use filters and actions in template documents.

Group contributors by role

Use Author Categories to label people as authors, contributors, editors, reviewers, photographers, or other contributor types. The Pro edition includes an Author Categories Box for displaying authors grouped by category.

Add details to author profiles

Author Fields can hold names, email addresses, websites, job titles, social media details, and other profile information. Pro supports Text, WYSIWYG, Link, and email address field types. Add these fields to author biography profiles through custom layouts. Supported social profile examples include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.

For a directory or an individual author page

Author Lists provide two ways to present contributors: the Author Index sorts names alphabetically and lets users choose a starting letter, while the Author Recent view pairs authors with their latest posts.

Author Pages can replace the default WordPress author pages without changing their URLs. Show an author box above the person’s posts, choose a List or Grid presentation, and customize the page layout through the available settings.

Set up the author workflow

Install PublishPress Authors in WordPress, then configure profiles, fields, categories, and display layouts. Assign users or guest authors while editing content, and choose where author boxes, lists, or pages should appear.
