Which images can you use?
Choose a single image or choose several for random assignment. Pro can also use the first post image already in the media library, the first image from the current site, or the first external post image. If an image from the current site or an external source is not in the media library, it can be copied or downloaded there. Other options include the first attached image, the first image in a standard WordPress gallery, an embedded content thumbnail such as a YouTube thumbnail, or the first image in a NextGen Gallery.
How can you target a bulk change?
Set, replace, or remove featured images in bulk. Existing images stay in place by default; enable overwriting to change them, or limit the results to posts without a featured image. For random assignment from several images, you can use each image once. If there are more posts than selected images, leave the remaining posts unchanged or remove excess featured images after the selected images have been used.
Filters include post type, category, tag, post format, author, registered custom taxonomy terms, featured-image size, multimedia type, search term, status, time, and parent page. Search can check both post titles and content or titles only. Status filters can include published, draft, and private posts. Preview the matching content before applying the action.
How do default images work?
Create rules for future posts using properties such as the first content image, a supported custom taxonomy, tag, category, author, or post type. Rules for posts, pages, and custom post types apply when a post is inserted or saved. Pro includes options for multiple random images, external featured images, a custom order for applying rule types, first content images on external servers, post format, title search matches, and random featured images at each page load. You can add, change, or delete rules as needed.
Save bulk-action options as presets for recurring work. In post, page, and supported custom post type lists, a sortable featured-image column shows current assignments and provides links to set, replace, edit, or remove an image. A media library column lists the posts that use each image. You can also remove database entries for featured images whose documents no longer exist with one action.
