What can clients manage?
Simple Client Dashboard Pro provides an adjustable WordPress user role named Admin, positioned between the default Administrator and Editor roles. Clients and webmasters can use the functions assigned to the role, while configured permissions limit access to selected settings and functions.
The free Simple Client Dashboard add-on includes an interface for editing the role. Pro adds more detailed controls for selected third-party add-ons.
Which dashboard areas and actions can be restricted?
Depending on its configured permissions, the Admin role can conceal or disable these WordPress areas and controls:
- Hide the Settings, Plugins, Tools, and Users menus.
- Hide the Appearance > Editor tab.
- Disable the theme installation button and theme-switching buttons.
- Disable the WordPress Core Updates button.
These controls limit access to selected configuration areas and actions such as installing or switching themes.
What can Pro restrict in supported plugins?
Pro controls let you configure what the Admin role can see or do in supported third-party plugins:
- Advanced Custom Fields: Hide the ACF menu and settings, including definitions, rules, and fields.
- Custom Post Types: Restrict the ability to make Custom Post Types.
- Contact Form 7: Restrict creating, deleting, and editing forms while allowing the Admin role to view submissions.
- Draw Attention: Restrict the ability to add Draw Attention images.
- Easy Digital Downloads: Select whether the Admin role can manage products, customer payments, reports and sales data, and settings.
- Five Star Business Profile and Scheme: Hide business profile settings.
- Gravity Forms: Restrict creating, deleting, and previewing forms, with selected editing and submission access available.
How do you assign the role?
Install Simple Client Dashboard on the client's WordPress website. The Admin role then becomes available with little to no setup required. Assign it to the client or webmaster, review permissions in the editing interface, and use the Pro controls to configure access for supported third-party plugins. Adjust permissions as responsibilities change to keep access aligned with the work each person needs to do.
This setup is useful for freelancers, agencies, and webmasters handing over day-to-day website management while limiting access to selected administrative functions.
