Squeeze Premium for WordPress Image Workflows
Squeeze Premium extends Squeeze, which compresses images in the browser using Web Workers and image codecs. Image bytes are not sent to a third-party optimization server for compression. Squeeze needs no API key and imposes no monthly image quota. It processes JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF, with optional HEIC/HEIF conversion during supported uploads and quality controls for each format.

Premium image processes
- Compare original and processed image sizes in the Media Library.
- Bulk squeeze images used on one post or page.
- Compress images on upload while editing in Elementor.
- Compress visitor images in Gravity Forms single-file and multi-file fields when Squeeze form uploads is enabled.
- Map CDN image URLs to local files for all three WebP delivery modes.
- Use the priority support and updates associated with Premium.
Editor uploads and front-end form uploads use separate settings. Squeeze on upload covers the Media Library and supported editor or theme workflows. Squeeze form uploads covers visitor file fields: Contact Form 7 is supported in the base add-on, while Gravity Forms requires Premium and the form uploads setting to be enabled.
WebP delivery and CDN files
Direct WebP converts the file on disk to WebP and replaces the original. Rewrite src keeps the original files and serves WebP URLs in the HTML output. Server delivery keeps existing URLs while .htaccess serves WebP bytes to supporting browsers. Premium CDN mapping connects CDN image paths with local files for these delivery modes.
Squeeze also works with WP Offload Media workflows, including compression when local files have been removed. Direct WebP works with offloaded storage and uploads converted WebP files to supported destinations such as S3, Google Cloud Storage, and DigitalOcean Spaces. The HTML rewrite mode relies on local WebP sidecars, which are not pushed to external storage; .htaccess rules do not apply to requests served directly from a CDN.
Bulk processing and image settings
Use the Media Library bulk tool for existing images, Premium's page tool for images used on one post or page, or Directory Squeeze for a selected folder under the site root. Larger libraries can be processed in runs of hundreds of images, with pause and resume support. Exclude files by URL or filename pattern, and enable .bak backups if you want a copy to restore after squeezing. Squeeze also lets you resize originals to a maximum width or height before compression.
Processing speed depends on the computer and image size; large PNG files may take longer. Choose quality settings and a WebP delivery mode in Squeeze settings, then process images from the Media Library or a supported editor.
