Send Users Email Pro: WordPress Queues, Scheduling and Lists

Send Users Email Pro extends WordPress email sending with tools to select recipients, prepare messages, and manage delivery. It includes the base extension’s functions and sends messages through WordPress’s wp_mail function.

Recipients and message content

Choose individual WordPress visitors, one or more user roles, or a single external email address. Pro includes custom groups managed separately from roles, with member selection through a searchable multi-select. You can also import external contact lists in bulk from CSV documents and email a list. Administrators can choose which other roles may send email through the extension.

Compose the subject and message in the WordPress rich text editor. Placeholders can insert a recipient’s username, first name, last name, display name, user ID, or email address into the message body. Pro also makes these placeholders available in subject lines. Preview the email with placeholder values applied before sending.

Delivery timing and records

For larger campaigns, queue messages in batches. The number sent every five minutes is configurable, and WP-Cron processes the queue. You can make the queue the default for sends. Pro can also schedule queued messages for a selected future date and time. Queue activity charts display throughput, while a separate queue email log keeps 30 days of records and automatically cleans up old queue entries.

Sent-email history is configurable, with 90 days retained by default. Failures returned by wp_mail are logged for review in the administration area. Queue pacing controls when messages are sent from the site; the configured mail service determines whether they are delivered.

Templates and sender settings

Save subject and message pairs as reusable templates, or choose from more than 15 pre-designed email themes. You can upload a custom HTML/CSS template and set it, or a theme, as the default for new messages. The email header works with a logo, title, and tagline; Pro lets you change the title and tagline for an individual email. Add social profile links to the footer and custom CSS to restyle the default responsive template.

Set the sender name, sender email, and reply-to address. SMTP settings let you configure a server host, port, credentials, and TLS/SSL. Messages still use wp_mail, so the plugin can work alongside other email plugins that hook into that function.

Subscription preferences

With Pro, users can opt in or out of these emails from their profiles. You can override a saved preference for an individual send.

Campaign workflow

Set sender and appearance details, create groups or import external contacts, select recipients, then compose and preview the email. For a larger send, queue messages or schedule the queued emails. Review sent-message history and available error details in the WordPress administration area.
