Announcement bars for WordPress
Simple Banner Pro helps you display announcements, notifications, and other short messages at the top or bottom of your website. The options provide controls for the banner’s link color, text color, and background color, so you can create a bar that fits the surrounding design.
The add-on also includes a preview section in the settings. Use it to review banner changes before saving them, making it easier to adjust the appearance and wording of an announcement without repeatedly checking the public website.
Manage multiple banners
Pro capabilities support up to five separate banners on your website. You can show banners simultaneously when several messages need to be visible, or show them consecutively to plan announcements for various weeks. This makes the add-on useful for rotating notices, planned campaigns, event reminders, and changing site updates.
Customize the presentation
For design requirements beyond the standard color controls, you can add your own custom CSS. This includes a way to tailor the banner’s appearance to your theme and adjust presentation details according to your site’s layout.
Simple Banner Pro also includes settings that affect where the banner is added and how it is positioned. If a theme uses an absolutely positioned header, changing the banner position or the Prepend element setting may help resolve a banner appearing behind or over the header. Divi visitors may need to try the header value for Prepend element, or use relative positioning and website custom CSS.
Closing behavior and cookies
If you enable the close button, the plugin uses a cookie to remember the visitor’s closed-banner state. The source describes these as strictly necessary cookies. If cookies are disabled in the visitor’s browser, the close-button expiration setting will not work and the banner will appear on each refresh.
You can control the close-button expiration setting from the banner configuration. To display a previously closed banner again, clear the relevant browser cookie or set the expiration value to blank, zero, or a date in the past. A page refresh may be required.
Practical process
- Create an announcement and choose its text, link color, text color, and background color.
- Use the preview section to review the design before saving changes.
- Add custom CSS when the standard settings do not provide the presentation you need.
- Use up to five banners together or arrange them consecutively for planned notices.
- Adjust position or the Prepend element setting if the banner conflicts with a theme header.
Installation and setup
Install Simple Banner Pro on your WordPress website, open its settings, and configure the banner content and appearance. Review the preview, save the settings, and check the front end. If caching prevents a new banner or change from appearing, clear the browser cache and then clear any plugin cache that bundles or caches scripts.
If a theme-specific positioning issue remains, review the relevant support topics. Pro users can purchase the Pro version and open a support ticket for assistance with their banner situation.
