What Does PrintFriendly Pro Add to WordPress?

PrintFriendly Pro Subscription is the paid, ad-free edition of the Print, PDF & Email WordPress extension. The plugin detects page content automatically, so publishers do not need a separate print.css file. In the free edition, ads appear in the print, PDF and email confirmation window. Pro removes those ads for the subscribed domain. PrintFriendly states that Pro is GDPR compliant.

Prepare a print or PDF preview

Visitors can edit the preview before printing or creating a PDF. They can resize text and pictures or delete content they do not need. This can make the finished document more focused and reduce paper and ink use.

Visitors can print, create a PDF or share page content by email. PDFs can include clickable links and use A4 or Letter paper sizes. Email sharing is sent by the service's server.

Publisher controls

Language and data handling

The interface detects the visitor's browser language and can show in 30 languages. Supported examples include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

For PDF generation, page content is sent to the service's server. The generated PDF is stored temporarily so the visitor can download it, then permanently deleted after that period. With the non-JavaScript option, the preview is generated on the server, cached for a few minutes and then deleted.

To send an email, the service stores the email address and message on its server. PrintFriendly says both are permanently deleted; it specifies that the email address is deleted after the message is sent and checked for spam.

Setup

Install and activate Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly on the WordPress site. Configure the print, PDF, email and display options, then select the Pro subscription for an ad-free experience. Review the output on the website, adjusting the button presentation, headers, footers, custom CSS or JavaScript option as needed.
