Manage WordPress toolbar items

Admin Bar Editor Pro extends the visual controls for the WordPress toolbar in the dashboard and on the frontend. The AdminBar Editor page groups settings into Backend, Frontend, and Advanced sections.

In Backend, toggle core items such as the WordPress logo menu, website name, visit site link, updates, comments, and the New menu. You can also manage built-in submenu entries, including Post, Media, Page, and User, and reorder toolbar items with drag handles. In Frontend, manage the toolbar shown on the public side, select which items appear, or disable it globally. Frontend items can also be reordered.

Pro visibility and custom menus

Pro lets you hide the frontend admin bar for selected visitor roles or individual usernames while leaving it visible for others. You can also add top-level menu items and submenu entries with custom titles and URLs, placing useful destinations in the toolbar for the people who need them.

Position and styling

The Advanced settings let you place the toolbar at the top or bottom of the screen; the position applies to backend and frontend views. Pro includes styling controls for a custom background color or gradient, toolbar text color, dropdown appearance, and the New button's style and color.

Configure and save

  1. Install the free Admin Bar Editor plugin, then install and activate Admin Bar Editor Pro alongside it.
  2. Activate the Pro license to unlock its functions.
  3. Open the AdminBar Editor page and choose Backend, Frontend, or Advanced.
  4. Toggle or reorder items, then apply any Pro visibility, menu, or styling settings you need.
  5. Save the settings to apply the configuration.

Settings are stored in the database and retained during updates. Deactivating the add-on restores the default WordPress admin bar; reactivating it restores the saved layout and options.
